- Philipp P.July 2012This campsite in Carentan is located on the canal "Le Haut Dick", from which it inherited its name. There is a very small harbor there; Carentan is a pretty little town, quite modern by French standards, with a variety of stores. It's not a shopper's paradise, but it's well suited for a walk of a few... hours and a bit of a stroll through the little stores. The infrastructure is very good, there is an E.Leclerc on one side of the town and a Carrefour on the other. These can also be reached on foot, they are about 2 kilometers from the square. The site itself is quite small, the number of mobile homes and pitches is balanced. The pitches are pleasantly large and separated from each other by small wooden barriers. There are modern, efficient electrical installations and plenty of water taps. The wash house is right in the middle. It offers separate facilities for him and her, washing areas for dishes and laundry as well as a washing machine, dryer and iron. Toilets and showers / washing facilities are separate. The facilities are clean and - according to the posted list - are checked with a signature. They are also in good condition, although there were no paper towels available for more than 24 hours during our visit (for whatever reason). The toilets are equipped with paper, but not all with glasses; hot water is available at all sinks, and soap is also available at the washbasin in the toilet section. The showers vary in size and offer adequate splash protection for textiles. Their temperature is not adjustable. The hot water temperature is the same everywhere and is quite pleasant for showering/washing, but not sufficient for washing dishes. The reception is manned by a family who are very friendly and make an effort to look after the staff. Once, when I bought a baguette, I was given ten cents too little - as a result, I was visited half an hour later at my seat and given the ten cents with many apologies. The bread must be ordered in advance and croissants are also available. A small bar offers space for cozy evenings, information about the surrounding area and leisure activities is available in abundance in the form of umpteen brochures. There is a small mini-golf course, free of charge, with some strange obstacles that are extremely motivating for children, and a giraffe bouncy castle (which seems to be a standard model in France, as I have now come across them on three courses throughout the country). Another nice feature is the fairly new, small pool where you can cool off. It has varying depths, but is not suitable for swimming due to its modest size. It's definitely good enough for children and teenagers, or for a refreshing dip in the evening (it's heated, of course). Carentan is a small, sleepy nest that you don't deliberately head for, as the options are fairly limited, even by bike (a trip to Cherbourg is not worthwhile - just like a vacation in Brittany to Brest; these towns offer nothing worth seeing). However, if I were to visit this area again, I would go straight back to "Le Haut Dick" because I felt very comfortable here due to its size, the resulting cozy atmosphere and the staff.Automaticky preložené.
