We treated ourselves to an XL pitch, front row with a view of the Bodden, but still much cheaper than all the pitches on Usedom.
Freest is within walking distance - a pretty little fishing village with a landing stage for the passenger ferry across... to Peenemünde.
You have to keep an eye on the time, as the last ferry leaves in the afternoon in September.
The site offers a bread roll service.

We were there about 2 years ago and a lot has improved since then. For example, the barrier now has license plate recognition, so you can get through very quickly without having to insert any cards. The sanitary facilities are very clean, with no broken... tiles or anything like that. The only small drawback is that you can't see how much time is left in the showers. Payment is now also possible by card. Work has also been carried out on the beach at the harbor in Freest and there are now nice places to sit.Automaticky přeloženo.

If it was dirty, it was down to the guests, unfortunately.
The place is great,... not far to the water and about 5 minutes to the harbor Freest.
You can also walk for hours through the woods and meadows. Simply wonderful for those who are looking for peace and relaxation.
Our dog also felt very comfortable. There was even a welcome gift for him!!!! Simply great.
The permanent campers were also very nice, unlike at other campsites.
We also liked the nice playground.
Waste disposal was also great. No prescribed times for disposal, as we have often experienced.
Almost forgot the bread roll service at moderate prices.

The campsite has very nice, parceled-out pitches. It is situated on the edge of a forest with a view of the water. Mr. and Mrs. Kaeding, who run the campsite, are very friendly and helpful. The morning rolls in particular are excellent. The sanitary facilities... are always kept clean, which also applies to the whole site. As the campsite is not that big, there is a family atmosphere. Shower tokens.Discovered by chanceWe actually wanted to book a CP on Usedom. But we didn't get anything there. But campers are flexible. So this campsite came to our attention. We stood on the tree-free part of the meadow. The pitches are huge and have electricity. There is water in the immediate vicinity. The sanitary facilities are... also not too far away. The sanitary facilities are in need of some renovation, and showering with shower tokens is no longer up to date, but the showers and toilets were cleaned several times a day and were therefore always clean. All in all, we were glad to have found this place, because Usedom is beautiful, but really overcrowded. We would go back to the "mainland".Automaticky přeloženo.
Susanne B.červenec 2019PozitivaIdyllic location, quiet, cleanGood decisionAfter visiting the island of Usedom, but not wanting to end up in one of the tourist strongholds, we decided on "Waldcamp Freest". We are traveling with a dog and like things to be a bit quieter and more secluded. It's important to us that we can take the dog out and don't have to look for a place to... walk it by car. I made a reservation and we were warmly welcomed. As it wasn't a vacation yet, we were allowed to have a look around and opted for one of the really spacious pitches with a view of the beach instead of the previously reserved wooded area. You can choose where you want to pitch in the grove, but there are a lot of campers there and it could be cramped for large caravans or motorhomes. The other pitches are really great, there is plenty of space for a car + awning, and you're not sitting on your neighbor's lap ;) The beautiful beach is just 300 meters away (and if you turn off just before the beach, you can go for a nice walk with your dog). Dogs are allowed there, the water is very shallow and you can walk in for ages. It would also be ideal for children. The sanitary facilities were always super clean, but showers cost extra, €1 for 4 minutes. Bread rolls could be pre-ordered at reception and picked up from 8:00 am. Freest is a small fishing village with a cute harbor. You can eat delicious fresh fish there in the harbor tavern (it's a four-minute walk from the campsite over the dune). From the harbor you can take the ferry to Pennemünde, otherwise you can easily reach all excursion destinations by car. Greifswald is only about twenty minutes away and is highly recommended. When we saw the traffic that crosses the bridge to Usedom every day in Wolgast, we were glad that we hadn't visited a campsite directly on Usedom. Waldcamp Freest is small, cozy, clean and the price is absolutely fine (although I think €4 for the dog is a bit excessive. The dog doesn't need electricity, we dispose of his waste ourselves and otherwise it's as if he wasn't even there. So why €4?)
