• Average overall impression
• Average overall impression weighted by the trustworthiness of the reviewer
• Average overall impression weighted by how current the ratings are
• Fourth root of the number of ratings
• We use the fourth root of the number of ratings, so the respective influencing value shrinks in comparison to the others. There’s a relatively big difference between a campsite having 50 or 100 ratings, for example, but when it comes to a site having 400 or 500 reviews, the difference becomes less significant. The fourth root moderates the influence of substantially higher numbers, thus placing campsites on a more even playing field. A campsite needs a minimum of 25 guest ratings in order to make it into the ranking.
