The two dog meadows should be accessible separately instead of being connected.
The groundsman/operator should show more personal presence, especially in the event of problems, instead of obviously only communicating by email/phone - the site isn't that big ;-)
And then there's the electricity consumption, which has often been criticized, and which admittedly leaves me a little perplexed. Yes, you can read it off in the bathroom at any time, but...85 KWh in 8 days, that's almost equivalent to the consumption in our detached house with 3 fridges, washing machine & dryer, dishwasher, 3 TVs, pool pump, extensive night-time outdoor lighting etc. etc., and that despite the fact that the fridge is in the living room. - and that although the fridge in the camper ran on gas and the heating in the bathroom only ran for a few hours one day...not really comprehensible!

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to answer your review to clarify our view of things:
It is clearly communicated that arrival is only possible from 13:00. Check-in is actually only from 15:00. However, our guests are welcome to arrive from 13:00 and move into their pitch. The private... bathroom is then available from 15:00. We find this extremely accommodating.
If you arrive with a complete caravan before 1:00 pm and park in front of a closed barrier, we don't think that's a good idea, as you're blocking access to the pitch for staff and all other guests.
We take the issue of noise very seriously on our campsite and if we receive complaints that you have not kept the night-time peace, you will of course receive a warning. We are a very quiet campsite and want to stay that way.

The lake is perfect for swimming. There is an extra dog beach.
You can hire beach chairs.
You can go for lovely walks from the campsite.

Holland is not far away... and the nearby Dankernsee is easy to reach by bike. Nice bike tours to Meppen and other places are just great. The friendliness of the staff must be mentioned.

Overnight accommodation is also available in Swedish houses. These can also be used in conjunction with a caravan or motorhome.
We stayed at Emsland Camp for a week for the first time in April 2023 and were totally... impressed.
You can see straight away that a modern, neat concept has been implemented here.
The site is beautiful, clean, well maintained and the pitches are very spacious.
This campsite is designed for dogs. You can go for walks in the woods and meadows, there is a dog playground, a dog washing area, a free run and a dog beach at the bathing lake.
Mobility is almost a must on this site, as the local shopping facilities are very limited. However, rental cars and bicycles can also be hired directly on site at a fair price.
We had a pitch in the "Green Camping" category.
This proved to be very evenly gravelled and we were able to do without leveling.
Due to the paved terrace on the pitch, depending on the size of the awning, awning or sun awning, securing it with pegs can be quite problematic, but is possible with a little skill.
The private sanitary facilities are spacious enough. Electricity costs must be paid separately. Electricity consumption is charged fairly according to consumption at €0.60/kWh and is transparent for each pitch, as the calibrated electricity meter in the bathroom is freely accessible.
You should definitely give your license plate number when booking, then you can drive onto the pitch immediately from 1:00 pm and check in later.
Internet (WLAN and wireless network) is very poor, especially when the pitch is full. The Vodafone network still seems to work best.
The restaurant was still being completed at the time of our stay.

The facilities are very high quality. The bathrooms belonging to the pitch (Green Camping) are great. However, the heating of the bathrooms is not adapted to the current temperatures. They are heated with radiators that are powered... by electricity. We had an unusually high electricity consumption for us (2 nights, Fri to Sun, 9kWh). Normally we use 4-5 kWh. We didn't use the radiator in the bathroom.
It's also a shame that the restaurant isn't open yet, but there is pizza and tarte flambée on site.

In fact, the boiler in your bathroom is also billed via your electricity meter (which you can read at any time in the vestibule).
We usually communicate this diligently at check-in, on our website and... in the booking confirmation. Sorry if this somehow got lost on you.
Why do we do it this way?
Firstly, we try to be as sustainable as possible and want to encourage our guests to use resources sustainably.
The second reason is that we don't have personal charges - we charge you fairly for everything you use and pass it on to you. This is a fair solution, as everyone only pays for what they actually use.

We have a relatively clear cancellation policy. We used to be more relaxed about this. Unfortunately, in the past we have always had guests who have taken advantage of this - when the weather was bad, lots of guests fell ill and places remained... empty.
We therefore always recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance, which is available for a few euros.

For dogs there are a lot of attractions such as an agility course, a dog shower and free camping stay.

You can check the electricity level in the bathroom on all pitches at any time, we have calibrated meters installed everywhere. I'm really sorry if this wasn't communicated.
What do you mean by vacant buildings? We are currently still under construction in our main building - our restaurant CABANA is due to open at the end of May and our wellness area and nine hotel rooms at the end of the year.

We found the code system for opening the bathroom very practical.
The small beach bar... with drinks, pizza and tarte flambée invites you to linger.
We received a free bike ticket when we checked in. The harbor/Ems and the beautiful Dankernsee are easy to reach by bike.
There is a small village store with a bakery about 1km away.
All waste disposal facilities are practically and thoughtfully located in front of the barrier.
The pitches are large enough and sheltered from view. We would have liked a little more openness.
It was easy to book online.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the site.
Electricity is charged on the day of departure.
There is a country road directly in front of the campsite, but it didn't bother us.
Unfortunately, a bread roll service is not yet available. However, this will be offered soon.
The restaurant is also still under construction and will be located directly by the lake.
The well-signposted cycle paths mostly lead along the main road (or we didn't find the right ones)

At €0.60/kWh, our electricity consumption is also very manageable and absolutely average compared to other campsites. At today's energy prices, this is also... absolutely fair. We charge electricity according to consumption so that everyone only pays for what they have actually used. We believe this is a fair and sustainable solution, as everyone then uses resources more responsibly. The electricity consumption can be tracked for each room, as the electricity meters in the bathroom are freely accessible.
Sorry that the Wi-Fi did not work optimally, the problem should be solved.

We are delighted that you liked our campsite. Regarding the comments: We have set up dog waste bag dispensers on the site and hope to improve the problem :-)
We are actually a quiet campsite and attach great importance to a good night's... sleep. If we notice that other guests are not keeping to this, we point this out to them directly. Next time, please let us know at the front desk so that we can take care of it :-) We're sorry that you couldn't reach anyone on our emergency number at night, that shouldn't really be the case...
